Large Sculptural Spalted Ash Vessel

This vessel is turned from spalted Ash sourced from Westonbirt Arboretum, felled due to Ash Dieback. The form is inspired by ancient pottery — echoing classical silhouettes from Greece or Rome — yet retains a modern, rustic sensibility.

The pale wood is dramatically patterned with dark spalting, creating high-contrast markings that read almost black and white. These natural patterns shift gently with the grain, bringing movement to the surface. The vessel is turned with thin walls and graceful curves, giving it a sense of delicacy despite its scale.

Finished with Osmo Top Oil for a soft, food-safe sheen, this piece is intended for display — sculptural, timeless, and full of character.
