Sculptural Oak Burr Vessel with Live Edge III

The third vessel from the same Westonbirt Arboretum Oak Burr, and the most technically demanding of the set. Where the others celebrate the drama of the material, this one adds another layer — the walls are turned exceptionally thin, the rim narrowing to just over 1mm, a quiet demonstration of precision and control that sits in deliberate contrast to the wildness of the burr.

At this scale and wall thickness, the piece takes on a delicacy that belies the density of the wood. The live edge and swirling burr grain remain as bold and characterful as ever. It’s a piece that holds two ideas at once: raw and refined, massive and featherlight.

Finished with natural Auro oil to bring out the warmth and complexity of the grain.
